If your regional settings in Windows are in anything other than US English but you want to use Lotus Symphony in English, please make the following change to the startup icon/properties:
Target: "C:\Program Files\IBM\Lotus\Symphony\symphony.exe" -nl en_US

You'll be happy to know that there is a preference for that now. In R1.2 you can change the UI Language under the regional settings. Thank you IBM.
